Car Buying Questions
Buying a vehicle can bring up a lot of questions, especially if it's been a while since your last purchase.
Below are answers to some of the most common questions people ask when starting the car buying process.
Can I still buy a vehicle if my credit isn’t perfect?
Yes. Many people assume they need perfect credit to purchase a vehicle, but there are often options available for a wide range of credit situations.
Lenders typically look at several factors when reviewing an application, and there are programs designed to help people in different financial situations.
If you’re unsure where you stand, the best step is simply having a conversation and seeing what options might be available.
What do I need to bring when buying a vehicle?
Most purchases require a few basic items to get started.
These usually include:
• Valid Identification (Driver's License or I.D.)
• Proof of income (Self employed is okay)
• Proof of residence (Dated within 30 days and must have physical address)
• Proof of insurance
Having these ready ahead of time can help make the process much smoother.
If you're unsure about anything, I’m always happy to help people prepare before they visit the dealership.
How long does the car buying process usually take?
The timeline can vary depending on the situation.
If someone already knows which vehicle they want and has their documents ready, the process can move fairly quickly.
Other times people prefer to take more time reviewing options, asking questions, and making sure they feel comfortable with their decision.
My goal is always to make the experience clear, simple, and pressure-free
Should I buy new or used?
Both options can make sense depending on what someone is looking for.
New vehicles offer the latest technology, full factory warranties, and the ability to choose specific features.
Pre-owned vehicles can often provide great value and more options within a certain budget.
The best choice usually depends on your priorities, driving needs, and long-term plans.
How does trading in a vehicle work?
If you currently own a vehicle, it can often be used toward the purchase of your next one.
The value of a trade-in is typically based on things like:
• overall condition
• mileage
• vehicle history
• current market demand
Once the vehicle is evaluated, that value can be applied toward the purchase of another vehicle.
Do I need to know exactly what vehicle I want before visiting?
Not at all.
Some people already know the exact vehicle they want, while others are still exploring different options.
Part of my job is helping people compare vehicles, understand features, and find something that fits their needs and budget.
There’s no pressure to have everything figured out before starting the conversation.
Can I ask questions even if I’m just starting my research?
Absolutely.
Many people reach out early in the process simply to understand how things work and what their options might be.
Even if you're just starting your search, I’m always happy to help answer questions and point you in the right direction.
What if I start the process and decide it’s not the right time?
That’s completely okay.
Sometimes people start exploring their options and decide they want to wait, save more money, or think things through.
There’s nothing wrong with taking your time and making sure you feel confident in your decision.
